  • Designing the laser heat treatment for the deep drawing of Al alloys by means of an optimization loop

    In this study, the effectiveness of heat treatment before the stamping process was numerically investigated for the deep drawing of an Al-Mg alloy, coupling a 2D FE model with the optimization platform modeFRONTIER. This work investigates the effectiveness of this new approach to optimize the localized heat treatment of the flange zone. The maximum Limit Drawing Ratio implementing the heat treated blank was predicted.

  • Enhancing deterministic synthesis of antenna arrays with stochastic methods

    The optimization of a CubeSat array antenna is explored in this work. The integration of CST Microwave Studio and modeFRONTIER is chosen for the proposed methodology. Specifically, the optimization of a geometrically uniform array is explored to improve efficiency.

  • Optimization of a small and lightweight antenna for handheld RFID reader

    This presentation demonstrates the successful coupling of the two softwares modeFRONTIER and CST for the enabling of multidisciplinary optimization of a waveguide and the antenna of a RFID portable reader. Overall, in the first case, modeFRONTIER helped meet the design targets, whereas in the second case it identified the best compromise between the most important requirements.

  • A novel comprehensive approach for multi-objective optimization of the aluminum extrusion process

    The aim of this work was to carry out a multi-objective optimization of industrial porthole dies for the maximization of the profile quality, of the production rate, and of the die strength. The investigation using optimizer modeFRONTIER involved two industrial components, a thick round tube and a more complex hollow rectangular profile.

  • Robust Design Optimization of a Free-Fall-Life-Boat (FFLB) Using Fluid-Structure Interaction and Kinematics Analysis

    A free fall lifeboat, or FFLB, is the focus in this optimization methodology run in modeFRONTIER, coupling ANSA, Meta and the FSI solver. A Kinematic solver calculates the initial conditions of the FSI analysis for different initial positions of the vessel, provided by the DoE tool. The results lead to useful conclusions for the lifeboat's robust trajectory.

  • I Beam Crane - Design Optimization

    As part of a design optimizing course at the Ben-Gurion University, Israel, this project aims to optimize the design of a crane built to raise and displace heavy experimental cells, used to research shock waves. The optimization process was performed in modeFRONTIER software, using genetic algorithm MOGA-II with Latin hypercube sampling.
