Different from the Sheet Molding Compounds (SMC) structure, the unidirectional (UD) structure (laminate) has multiple layers, and each layer has anisotropic properties. The layout of each component in the vehicle structure needs to be optimized in order to achieve the optimum structure performance such as stiffness, durability, NVH, and safety. he multi-layer UD structure optimization is implemented on the platform of modeFRONTIER.

Energy Consumption Minimization in Railway System
The optimization of train movements could make the railway system even less impacting on the environment by reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Only in a limited number of cases train drivers are assisted by the so called Driver Advisory System which suggests energy-eﬃcient speed proﬁles. The present study aims at minimizing energy consumption in both the planning phase, where train timetables are defined, and operational phase in which traﬃc may be perturbed by unexpected events.
Vehicle steering pull - from product development to manufacturing
The objective of this paper is to propose a novel method to evaluate the impact of dimensional variations on vehicle steering pull. The proposed method combines Monte Carlo simulation to validate the dimensional tolerances, a multibody software to simulate initial data and modeFRONTIER to create a polynomial response surface and simulate the Vehicle Residual Aligning Torque (VRAT) distribution curve, final directional vehicle trend, and factors influence on VRAT.

Advanced Predictive Diesel Combustion Simulation Using Turbulence Model and Stochastic Reactor Model
This work studies the modeling of turbulence time-scales in diesel engines within a 0D model framework. The goal is to see its effect on combustion and emission formation taking into consideration different operating conditions. The combustion is described using the pdf based DI-SRM. Optimization was run using modeFRONTIER.
Strengthening of Composite T-joints using novel ply design approaches
This study assesses three different and novel design approaches to increase the failure stress and elastic damage limit of T-shaped structural joints made of carbon fibre-epoxy composite. The ply orientations to the laminate within the T-joint radius bend, which is highly susceptible to delamination failure, were designed using a numerical optimisation method and two design-of-experiment methods to increase the failure load. Software modeFRONTIER was used for optimization.
Parameterization and Multi-objective Optimization
This thesis aims to optimize a control arm of a car with multiobjective optimization methods based on NX and modeFRONTIER. The study attempts to identify the best algorithms for the design considering given requirements. The overall goal is to reduce weight while maintaining the same stiffness.This research is done as a contribution to the SupLight EC research project.
