  • Automated Deployment of System Models via Functional Mockup Interface with Excel and modeFRONTIER

This presentation provides a brief overview of FMI with a focus on end-user value and demonstrates a method for automated deployment of system models in Modelica as simulators in Microsoft Excel using Functional Mockup Interface (FMI) and FMI Add-in for Excel. Using existing interfaces, integration with modeFRONTIER is demonstrated and exercised with several different example system models in different physical domains.

  • Development of a multiobjective methodology for layout optimization of equipments in artificial satellites

The National Institute for Space Research (INPE) produces science and technology in the areas of space and terrestrial environment and offer unique products and services on behalf of Brazil. In this paper, INPE uses Pareto optimality criterion to create an artificial satellite that has a structure supporting the many pieces of equipment placed inside. By using modeFRONTIER, INPE was capable of creating designs that were better than the original manual design despite the many limiting constraints.

  • Modular Discrete Event Simulation of Aircraft Wing Manufacturing using Collaborative Technologies

EPES is an EU funded research project in manufacturing and sustainability engineering that aims to produce a set of tools for improving products, services and processes. This presentation focuses on the process of wing design optimization that was performed using Esteco's software platform SOMO. The methodology proves the importance of the flexibility of tools and how they can streamline multi-discipline engineering processes.

  • Optimising the Cost of Flooding

The Water & Environment division of Akins UK deals with the planning of emergency response, maintenance, and minor improvements as well as construction management for major works related to flooding. After investigation, the consultancy company simulated flooding propagation and sewer condition to assess risks and plan interventions.
