"Ball Control" project at Trieste Next 2016
"Ball Control" is the name of a new interactive project undertaken by Electronic Engineering and Computer Science students from the University of Trieste. This project, which benefits from ESTECO expertise and optimization technology, will be presented at Trieste Next 2016 - the European Science Research Forum to be held from 23rd to 25th September in Trieste (Italy).
The project aims to show how difficult it is for humans to defeat a computerized control system. Visitors to Trieste Next 2016 will get the chance to see if they can out maneuver the control system.
The challenge lies in steering a ball along a path on a flat surface faster and more accurately than the computerized system. To steer the ball, players can tilt the surface using a joystick or smartphone. Finally, the visitors can also draw a challenging path using their smartphone and see how the computer get on it. In both cases, the control system calibration has been optimized with modeFRONTIER, with the help of ESTECO experts.
Players will be able to see how they fared against the control system via a screen which displays the respective paths and scores in real time.
