ESTECO Academy Design Competition: 13 qualified entries from 12 universities in 9 countries

11 May 2017

A total of 13 projects from nine countries qualified for the 2016 edition of the ESTECO Academy Design Competition, organized in cooperation with Aprilia Racing and Gamma Technologies.

By the submission deadline on April 30th, we received proposals from Croatia, Czech Republic, Italy, India, Germany, Malta, Spain, UK and the USA. Student teams belonging to the following universities submitted design projects in line with the contest rules: Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpu, University of Trieste, University of Idaho, University of Florida, B&FC College (United Kingdom), University of Malta, Politecnico di Torino, University of Split (Croatia), University of Valladolid (Spain), University Carlos III de Madrid, Czech Technical University in Prague and TU Braunschweig (Germany).

The overall quality of the projects is quite high so it will be a tough call for the jury - composed of three experts from ESTECO, Aprilia Racing and Gamma Technologies - who are currently examining the submitted works. "We are extremely satisfied with the quality levels of the projects we received. We are glad to have provided our state-of-the-art technology to these talented student teams", said Enrico Nobile, ESTECO Academy scientific advisor.

The registration deadline for the ESTECO Academy Design Challenge closed on 30 November, while the final project proposals were to be submitted by the end of April. More than 500 individuals from over 30 countries have expressed their interest in taking part in the race. The contestants relied on state-of-the-art engineering technologies provided by ESTECO and Gamma Technologies to develop the perfect race engine and win a job experience with the APRILIA Racing team. In particular, the first qualified team will obtain one 6-month internship at Aprilia Racing, while both the first and the second-best team will enjoy a visit of the Aprilia Racing headquarters and labs. Each member of the first and second-best team will also enjoy one year of free ESTECO Academy membership.

While the winners will be announced on June 9th, the final award ceremony will be held on July 21st at the Aprilia Racing HQs in Noale, Italy.  During the day, the awarded students will go on aguided tour of the Aprilia RC headquartes and labs, which is part of the prize for first and second place!

Best of luck to you all!
