- Open command prompt by typing cmd in the search and hitting enter
- In the command prompt type “ipconfig /all” and hit enter
- Different adapters and their physical addresses are displayed
- Find the term Host Name at the top
- Scroll down to find “Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection”
- The alphanumeric ID in front of Physical Address is the Host ID

- Click on "modeFRONTIER tutorials" from the home panel.
The project files (.prj files) for each Tutorial are included in the modeFRONTIER installation folder, under the “tutorials” subfolder. Open the corresponding .prj file accordingly to the instructions reported at the beginning of each Tutorial.
Tip: We suggest you to start using the software by following the Getting Started with modeFRONTIER tutorial.
- Open modeFRONTIER
- Click on Workflow panel
- Click Help button and then User Guide
- Browse the Guide either by argument (menu on left) or by keyword (menu on the top).
The Help button is available in each node of the mF workflow, and it opens directly the page of the User Guide corresponding to the node you are using.
Follow the “Getting Started with modeFRONTER” tutorial (see FAQ nr.3 to access the Tutorials)
- Check if your software is included in the list of “Direct Integration Nodes”, reported in the Tutorials page (see FAQ nr.3 to access the Tutorials).
- If it is included, follow the corresponding Tutorial to integrate a simple case before working on your model.
- Check also all the details reported in the User Guide (see FAQ nr.4 to access the User Guide) for the Integration node, specifically the section about Setup Requirements (see example below):
- If it is not included, you may use EasyDriver node to integrate it. Follow the Tutorial “Process integration with the EasyDriver node” under the “General Features” section of the Tutorials page (see FAQ nr.2 to access the Tutorials) to understand how to use the EasyDriver node.
- Check if the version of your CAE software is compatible with the ones supported by mF, from the “Supported Integration” page of the User Guide (image below).
- If the version of the software is not included in the compatible versions for mF, the software cannot be integrated.
- Follow the explanation reported by the User Manual for the corresponding node, specifically the sections related to Setup Requirements, Node Configuration, and Preferences (figure below as an example).
- These sections report important settings that need to be fulfilled to make the Integration node work properly.
- Once you make sure you have accomplished all the requirements, restart modeFRONTIER.

My software is very fast (each simulation takes a few seconds): which optimization algorithm is advised?
- To explore widely the set of optimal solutions (Pareto frontier), use a MOGAII or NSGAII algorithm.
- You may select the “Self-initializing” option, with a total number of simulations at least 40 times the number of input variables.
- If the number of objectives is higher than 3, use the “Many-Objective” algorithm instead.
- As an alternative, use pilOPT algorithm with the “Autonomous” option (the number of designs will be defined by the algorithm).
You can select the pilOPT algorithm with the “Self-Initializing” option. Set a number of designs which is feasible to be completed in a reasonable time. The number of simulations required for pilOPT is generally much lower than for a Genetic Algorithm.
You can either select the pilOPT algorithm with the “Self-Initializing” option as indicated in the previous FAQ, or as alternative evaluate a DOE Sequence and then train a Response Surface to execute a RSM-based optimization. Follow the tutorial “Statistical analysis and RSM strategy” under the “General Features” section of the Tutorials page for more details (see FAQ nr.3 to access the Tutorials).
Which Statistical Analysis, Visualization, and Clustering tools are available in mF? How can I use them?
Follow the “The use of statistical tools” and “Multivariate Analysis tool” tutorials under the “Design Space” section of the Tutorials page (see FAQ nr.3 to access the Tutorials).
