Exploiting Optimization Techniques for Multibody Analysis to Define Uncertain Input Parameters with modeFRONTIER and ADAMS CAR

CHALLENGE - This presentation illustrates the successful integration of ESTECO and MSC Software technologies to align experimental results and data input for a multibody model of four-cylinders in line engine.

SOLUTION - With multibody Adams/Car it has been modeled a four stroke engine inserting pressures law versus crank angle and engine speed. Using MSC APEX flexible engine and vehicles elements have been created easily and inserted in a complete assembly modelling the system up to transmission shaft. modeFRONTIER is used to align experimental engine modal frequency and multibody model, and to characterize bushing model used in time domain starting from frequency domain data.

BENEFITS - The approach is used to have a methodology to judge objectively different bushings using the available experimental data and a method to optimize the system using powerful tools inside modeFRONTIER.
