A closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) is a system where the forward and reverse flows of items occur and should be managed simultaneously​.  The proper management of a CLSC requires the design, control and operation of the system to maximize value creation over the entire life cycle of a product, with dynamic recovery of value from different types and volumes of returned items​. This aim of this research is to evaluate and minimize the environmental impact of an existing CLSC​.

Automated Deployment of System Models via Functional Mockup Interface with Excel and modeFRONTIER

This presentation provides a brief overview of FMI with a focus on end-user value and demonstrates a method for automated deployment of system models in Modelica as simulators in Microsoft Excel using Functional Mockup Interface (FMI) and FMI Add-in for Excel. Using existing interfaces, integration with modeFRONTIER is demonstrated and exercised with several different example system models in different physical domains.

The National Institute for Space Research (INPE) produces science and technology in the areas of space and terrestrial environment and offer unique products and services on behalf of Brazil. In this paper, INPE uses Pareto optimality criterion to create an artificial satellite that has a structure supporting the many pieces of equipment placed inside. By using modeFRONTIER, INPE was capable of creating designs that were better than the original manual design despite the many limiting constraints.
