Influence of actual component characteristics on the optimal energy mix of a photovoltaic-wind-diesel hybrid system for a remote off-grid application

Hybrid energy systems are an interesting solution for the electrification of remote, off-grid users, which usually are obligated to satisfy their electricity demand by means of quite old technologies, like for example diesel generators. In the present study, a sizing strategy was developed based on a long-term energy production cost analysis, able to predict the optimum configuration of a hybrid PV-wind-diesel stand-alone system. The approach was tested on an isolated mountain chalet in Italian Alps.

Innovative Computer Aided Solidification Technology

ERGOLINES and ESTECO teamed up to elaborate this new technology for 'assisted solidification' of steel to improve further the quality of the final product. Optimization on Fuel Injection Parameter of Heavy-Duty Diesel Engine Based on Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithms

By using the GT-power software to establish the computing model of diesel engines and employing the modeFRONTIER multiobjective genetic algorithm (MOGA), this study carried out optimal research on performance indicators of diesel engines such as BSFC, NOX, soot, HC and CO, achieved the optimal solution to combination of injection parameters, and analyzed the relationship between optimal objective and fitness.​

Study on Efficiency of Solid-Liquid Separator by Vibration Analysis

CHALLENGE - The Solid-Liquid Separator is commonly used for sludge disposal in water purifying plant and draining water off from food. The solid-liquid mixture is separated into solid and liquid by using a screen with slits. Using a screen with narrower slit distance allows to separate finer objectives, although the efficiency is negatively affected by solid clogging at slits. The solution is to adopt a vibrating screen induced by a vibration exciter.
