ESTECO Academy Design Competition 2018 to be announced at UM18

4 April 2018

ESTECO and Cummins will present the design competition challenge at the  ESTECO International Users' Meeting 2018 in Trieste, Italy.

Organized in partnership with Cummins, the competition will be open to teams of undergraduate and graduate students from international Universities, attending a School of Engineering or Architecture.

The past ESTECO Academy Design Competition 2016, organized in cooperation with Aprilia Racing and Gamma Technologies, challenged engineering students from all over the world to test their skills in numerical analysis, simulation and testing while aiming to design the perfect race engine. Over 500 students from more than 30 countries had expressed their interest in participating, while 233 qualified by satisfying all the criteria. Finally, 13 qualified projects were presented from 12 universities in nine countries (Croatia, Czech Republic, Italy, India, Germany, Malta, Spain, UK and the USA).

Detailed competition information and general design characteristics will be presented on May 24th at 10.30 AM, during the ESTECO International Users' Meeting 2018, by Kevin Brittain - Multidisciplinary Optimization (MDO) Group Leader at Cummins.

Competing teams will benefit from hands-on experience and learn how to balance the use of cutting-edge software technology with their knowledge of analytical applied mathematics in the quest for the optimal design.
