The Audace Sailing Team from the University of Trieste won the 1001VELAcup Trophy: Matija Succi and Alberto Tezza on board of Dedalo succeeded the international regatta, where sailing boats were designed, built, and run by university students.

The 1001VELAcup Trophy, the international universities sailing challenge organized by the 1001VELACup Association in collaboration with the University of Palermo and the Circolo della Vela Sicilia with the contribution of the Sicily Foundation, ended on September 26 and was held in Mondello, Italy.

The Audace Sailing team boat is born from an extracurricular project of the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste.

The Audace Sailing team relied on modeFRONTIER technology for the design of the boat.

The main goal of the Dedalo's hull design was the pursuit of a perfect balance between stability and speed.

To evaluate those objectives a completely parametric model in Grasshopper/Rhino was created. The performance and dynamic stability of the hulls generated by Grasshopper were then evaluated using
various regression formulas.
modeFRONTIER has enabled the team to explore the design space thoroughly, allowing the reduction of computing time through the automation of the analysis and the integration between multiple software.
